Designed to reduce unsafe wandering
Phantom Bus Stops are placed in a hallway to ease the minds of anxious dementia patients eager to leave or wander. A bench is pushed up against the wall under an the Phantom Bus Stop. The idea is for the individual to sit on the bench and wait for the bus. Then a staff member can see this person, sit down and start talking. Allow the person to share where they are going, to their job or shipping.
The goal is for them to forget they wanted to leave and continue on their day.
